Today in worship we celebrate the day of Epiphany, the last of the Christmas Season. We are blessed to have Special Music by Dr. Jack Ashworth, one of Pastor Shannon’s professors from the University of Lousiville School of Music who has graciously offered his recordings to us for use in our service. Below the video is his biography and a link to his YouTube page if you’d like to listen more.

After such a tumultuous week I hope we can all take a deep breath and turn our attention towards worship of the newborn King this day. Let us pay him homage.

Jack Ashworth, University of Louisville Professor of Music History Emeritus, continues to teach early music ensembles, harpsichord and organ on a part-time basis at the University of Louisville, to which faculty he was appointed in 1977. Primarily a harpsichordist, he also plays early string and wind instruments such as the recorder and viola da gamba. Active as an early music workshop coach in the United States, England, Canada and Australia, he received the Thomas Binkley Award for Outstanding Achievement by a Collegium Director in 1999 and served two terms as president of the Viola da Gamba Society of America. Jack has performed with Wieland Kuijken, Margriet Tindemans, Brent Wissick, Clea Galhano and Marion Verbruggen, as well as the ensembles Fretwork and Trio Settecento, among others. Active as a substitute organist in the Louisville area, Jack also plays fiddle in the Buzzard Rock String Band. You can listen to more of Dr. Ashworth’s music on his YouTube Channel here.
