Sunday School

Miss Debbie teaches an Advent lesson.

“We live by faith, not by sight” 2 Cor 5:7 NIV

Christian Education is an essential part of growing our relationships with God and one another.

Ashland’s Children and Youth Ministries provide opportunities for creative growth, faith questions, and connection to each other and to God.

Sunday School

Lead by a supportive team of committed adults the Sunday School program meets Sundays between September and May from 10:00-10:50 AM. During this time children from pre-K to twelfth grade gather to play, pray, and learn about how God’s eternal love is at work in our world today.

Youth Group

On the second Sunday of each month, Ashland Youth gather for food, fun, and fellowship. The schedule is:

  • 4:30-5:30 Kids’ Club (4-5 grades)
  • 5:30-6:00 Worship (4-12 grades)
  • 6:00-6:30 Dinner
  • 6:30-7:30 Youth Group (6-12 grades)

Youth and children are incorporated into many aspects of Ashland’s community. Sunday school classrooms and individual youth are invited to share their talents and lead portions of the worship service throughout the year. Pre-K through fifth graders are involved in a service oriented stewardship project every fall.

A time for children is often a part of the 11:00 service. Ms. Katie is delivering the message.

At Ashland, we understand that fostering a supportive and encouraging environment for children and youth is a vital piece of our work as a community of faith. Youth preparing to join the church work with committed adults who mentor them as they learn about Christian faith and Presbyterian practices. The Christian Education Team promotes an inclusive environment for both children and families, welcoming new faces in our classrooms and new ideas in our work together.

If you have any questions about children or youth events please contact us. We look forward to meeting you!

 Adult Education

“Sunday School” is not just for children and youth.  It is vital that we find ways as adults to open our minds, hearts, and souls to God.  On the Second Sunday of every month Sunday School Class, led by Pastor Shannon, will meet in the Fellowship Hall and will combine with the Senior High Youth Class.

Other special Education Events are presented throughout the year and will be posted below through the Blogs.

The youth of Ashland have been very busy!  We started out our year by attending an Orioles/Yankees game which was a lot of fun, although the outcome was not what we wanted as Orioles fans.  That same month we had a movie and pizza luncheon where we discussed the movie “Evan Almighty” a modernized movie about the Noah’s Ark story.  Our youth did an amazing job with the Youth Sunday service which was followed by Live Clue, a living version of the popular board game.  Our winning team consisted of Emily Wheeler and Cerys Beckwith, Great Job ladies!   Some things to look forward to in the coming months include our first trip to the ROCK youth retreat in Ocean City and a fundraiser at the Greene Turtle in Hunt...
