2008 General Assembly

Bonnie Clarke represented us at the PCUSA General Assembly this year and will be providing a series of reports to share the event.   Here is the first report on the General Assembly meeting.

Summer Reading List

You can participate in the Deep Shift process:  

  • Check out the Summer Reading List of books about transformation in the church.  
  • You can also read the latest report covering the formation of a Healthy Church committee at Ashland. 
  • All Ashlanders are welcome to participate with the 'Healthy Church' team members in the Deep Shift training for cluster churches on September 6.

SECOND SUNDAY SPECIAL MUSIC

Mark your calendars for Saturday October 11 at 3 pm.  The Russian Acapella group "Lyra" will be with us for another wonderful concert.

YOUTH UPDATE!

September 7 -- First meeting of the new school year.  Come join us for our version of the 2008 Olympics!

September 14 -- Scabble...Super Sized!  This year the youth group will be writing a monthly article for the APC newsletter.  Join us as we play a super sized version of Scrabble and write about our community!   We will also be having a Youth Hosted Fellowship Hour for the church at 12 PM.

September 21 -- We will be learning about how we can help out with Habitat for Humanity and will even be guilding some houses...bird houses!

September 28 -- Family Pot Luck Night.  All family members are welcome to join!

October 5 -- Live Clue!  Come play as we bring the board game to life!

October 12 -- Newsletter Meeting

October 19 -- Youth Led Worship at 11 AM.  An adult leader will be joining us for a speaker meeting at our evening meeting and we will be preparing for Trick or Treat so Other Can Eat!

October 26 -- Pick up for Trick or Treat -- and Halloween Party!

This summer we will continue to meet every Sunday evening and add some fun outings to our calendar.  If you would like to join us, please talk to Katie! 


PRESBYTERIAN WOMEN

You're invited to join the best book club ever!

The Ashland Presbyterian Church Women invite you to join the fun and fellowhip that sharing a Bible study can provide.  If you are an Ashland Presbyterian Church woman, you are welcome and needed in this shared learning experience.  The   study for the coming year is entitled, Jubilee! Luke's Gospel for the Poor.  The group will be meeting again September 8, 2008 12:30 pm. Contact Moderator Susan Williams through the church office.
