The Youth Group Summer Retreat at

Doe River Gorge 2008

"One of the best times of summer for me is the Youth Group's trip to Doe River Gorge.  I really love going to this camp because not only are you surrounded by other Christians, but you're constantly testing and challenging your beliefs.  The team activities like  The Human Knot (which we have yet to accomplish with 18 people) and the obstacle courses show how much everyone cares about each other.  The "High Adventure Activities" like rappelling, via ferrata, rock climbing and mountain boarding are where you are really tested on your faith.  I remember repeating constantly "Lord! Help me!" and out of nowhere I'd be through the challenge.  Doe River is an AMAZING camp."    Laura Walter

Here are some photos from Ms. Katie's scrapbook:

The Human Knot

The Human Knot.

You can tell that it would have never worked out.

There must have been 3 layers of people in there!

 The Obstacle Course

Obstacle Course!

We had to have two feet on each log at a time, while balancing.

Took a lot of teamwork but we made it.

Via Ferrata

This is Julie getting ready to go on the Via Ferrata
-- by far a major faith challenge.

Kelly is ready to hoe down.

Hoe Down!

The one awesome social event at Doe River Gorge.

It may be country music but the fun totally outweighs that.

Kelly is ready to have a great time.

 Laura rappels down a cliff.

Rappelling:

the hardest part is jumping off the ledge backwards!

You have to trust the ropes & counselors to be there for you.
